Welcome to A10

What’s Area 10 all about?

Area 10 (the designation realtors give to downtown Richmond) is a faith community in the heart of the city that exists to Love God, Love People and Love our City Beyond Reason. Everything we do is designed to help Richmonders learn to love God, love others and love our city.

What can I expect on a Sunday?

If you come to Area 10 on a Sunday morning you can expect a few things...

First of all, we are centered on Jesus and The Bible. Everything we do during our Sunday worship is meant to bring to focus the message of a living hope, healing and new life that is available to everyone through Jesus Christ.

Our services are held at The Byrd Theatre, an amazing art-deco space with inspiring decor and the occasional sticky spot on the floor and broken seat. (Which is why we love it here.)  Even though the space is dressed up with chandeliers and murals, you don't need to get dressed up to come. Our dress code policy is...please do. There's also a free parking deck behind The Byrd on Colonial Street and  street parking around Carytown on Sunday mornings.

We offer two identical services at 9:30 and 11 AM that  typically last 70 minutes. The service begins with our band leading songs that vary from ancient hymns to progressive Christian music.

Following worship, we open the Bible and teach God’s Word. The teachings are designed to be Biblical, and engaging and  challenge you to know God more and apply His Word to your life.

Finally we celebrate communion together. During this time people are invited to come forward and take bread and juice that represents the body and blood of Christ. Everyone is welcome to come forward during this time or remain at their seats and listen to the music, reflect on the day's message or share prayer requests with volunteers waiting at the back of the theatre.

What about if I have kids?

Will they get bored?

We encourage parents to bring their children, birth through 5th grade, to Cartwheels & Coffee, a few doors down from The Byrd for A10 Kids. A10 Kids has music and a teaching time where they play games, make crafts and learn about Jesus in an environment that is safe fun and biblical. Our trained volunteers provide great care for the kids so kids can learn at their developmental level while their parents learn in The Byrd Theatre.  We have computerized check-in and pager system to keep our kids safe.

So What Are My Next Steps?

Partnership Class

Area 10's Partnership Class is a 4 hour class offered every other month. During the class, our staff will talk about Area 10's 3 E's (Experience, Explore, Engage) at depth and discuss what it means to become a Partner of Area 10. At the end of the class you'll have an opportunity to sign an A10 Partnership Covenant and say "This is MY church." If you're not ready to do that, that's OK too! And don't worry, we'll provide food and childcare!

Small Groups

At Area 10, we meet in small groups in each others’ homes throughout the city. We eat, pray, study the Bible and connect with others who are on the same faith journey. Our small groups meet weekly for 12 week semesters in the fall, spring and summer with a 6 week break between each semester.

Plug In at A10

As a church we believe that service is a great way to get connected, grow in your faith, and is absolutely invaluable to the church as a whole. It takes over 60 volunteers every Sunday to make church happen. We hope you find a place to step into service and experience the church with all it has to offer!

Engage in the City

We provide monthly organized projects to help make connections and inform our body with opportunities to get involved through a wide variety of city partnerships. We plan to make even larger strides in regards to mentoring through connecting people with their passions and providing avenues for them to pursue it!
